Starting Saturday the Hudson Valley Can Vote Early For First Time

For the very first time ever, the Hudson Valley can head to the polls early.

Election day isn't until November 5, but starting on Saturday Hudson Valley residents can cast their votes early. Thanks to a new law signed by Governor Cuomo in January, Hudson Valley residents can enjoy eight days of early voting.

The law was passed in order to reduce wait times on election day and assist voters who have difficulty making it out to the polls. Cuomo says the new law will make sure that everyone in New York will have their voices heard.

Too many generations of New Yorkers have been discouraged from exercising their right to vote, and this year we enacted a series of new measures to fix that and help bring our voting laws into the 21st century

Other changes to the voting laws include synchronizing the dates of federal and state elections; allowing 16 and 17-year-olds to pre-register to vote; and enacting a universal transfer of voter registrations.

You can either go to vote as usual on November 5, or head out to your local early voting location between Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, November 3. You can find your polling place online.
