I Love my Park Day is coming May 6, and if you were wondering what you and your family could do to help out, wonder no more. While each state park throughout the Hudson Valley has a list of specific projects they need help with, today we’ll focus on Staatsburgh State Historic Site and Mills Memorial State Park.

They are looking for help to clean up and rehabilitate areas of the mansion’s historic landscape within the park. The projects they need help with would work well for people ages 8 and older, and you can come for any portion of the day. In case of heavy rain, the event will be cancelled.

These projects include cleanup and beautification of the landscape near the mansion; invasive plant removal in the historic estate grounds and park; and cleanup of one of the estate’s historic outbuildings. You’ll be using rakes, shovels and hand tools to assist park staff with these activities and you can bring their own work gloves and tools if you prefer, but tools and gloves will also be provided.
