Several Hudson Valley Radio DJs Laid Off Without Warning

On Tuesday several local on-air personalities fell victim to the latest round of corporate layoffs.

iHeartMedia announced this week that they were "modernizing" their company, forcing them to make a "shift in jobs." Those job cuts hit hard in the Hudson Valley, where significant cuts had already been made over the past several years at iHeart stations.

According to Allaccess.com and Radioinsight.com, local personalities let go from iHeartRadio include Kiss-FM program director and on-air host Jaelel "J-Will" Williams, WKIP news director Cameron Hendricks and on-air personalities Bill Williams, Gary Cee and John "Tigman" Rutigliano. Last month, iHeartRadio morning host Joe Daily stepped down from WRNQ after 18 years.

Insiders say the layoffs came as a surprise to most of the employees that were laid off. The "Black Tuesday" firings were met with shock and sadness by many employees and radio listeners across the region who headed to social media to show their support to those who were let go.

While a handful of radio stations in the area have been heavily impacted by the latest iHeartRadio layoffs, the Hudson Valley is fortunate to also be home to a majority of stations that still employ live and local air talent. Several national and independent radio groups operating in Dutchess, Orange and Ulster County continue to maintain a full staff of live on-air personalities, programmers and support personnel.
