Robert Andrew Gerritse, a US Navy Veteran, Dies at 82

Robert Andrew Gerritse, 82, of Milford, DE and formerly of New Jersey and North Carolina, died on June 13, 2016 at Bayhealth Kent General, Dover, DE.

Born in Queens, NY on October 22, 1933, he was the son of Andrew and Mary Liszankie Gerritse. He proudly served our country in the US Navy during the Korean War and was employed as the Assistant Vice President of Chemical Bank in New York City.

Robert was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Milford, DE. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, stamp and coin collector, and bocce ball player. He was also a member of the Homeowners Association and Shawnee Country Club.

Robert was predeceased by his wife Maryann Sicora. He is survived by his children, Sr. Kathleen Marie Gerritse, CR of Hopewell Junction, NY, Karen Gardineer and her husband David of Ewing, NJ, Thomas Gerritse of Omaha, NE, Janice Prostak and her husband Thomas of Stewartsville, NJ, and John Gerritse and his wife Lori of San Jose, CA; his grandchildren, Thomas Prostak, William, Michael and Robert Gardineer, Nicholas and John Andrew Gerritse; and his sister, Joan Verlander of New Bern, NC.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 17th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, June 18th at 10:00 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
