An Orange County Deputy Sheriff knew the signs, acted quick and saved a man from a possible overdose. 

Late Tuesday evening Orange County Deputy Sheriff Sergeant Justin Butterfield responded to a report of a possible overdose in the Town of Greenville. Upon arrival, Sergeant Butterfield found a 21 year-old man unconscious and not breathing.

Sergeant Butterfield immediately recognized the signs, and knew the the man may have overdose on an opioid. The Sergeant administered Naloxone, which is an opioid overdose counteractive medication carried by many deputies and police officers in Orange County.

After administering the Naloxone, the man regained consciousness and began to breathe on his own once again. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
