Orange and Rockland Under Heat Watch
It's looking like a hot one today.
Orange & Rockland has a Heat Watch posted for today Wednesday, July 6th. Due to the heat and humidity expected today, O&R is expecting air condition use to increase. In a press release O&R explains that the heat watch is triggered because the extra use of air condition is predicted to push the O&R system past its regular 1,300 megawatts.
O&R is urging customers to use their electricity efficiently, by making small, simple changes in their summer routine. For example before you leave the house turn off your air conditioning. O&R is predicting the heat to last until at least Friday.
They've posted some great tips to keep electricity use to a minimum this summer including: placing popular items in your refrigerator up front to reduce the time in which the refrigerator door is open, keep ceiling or portable fans on to circulate pre- cooled air and planning cooking or baking during cooler times of the day.
