A new farm to table restaurant is scheduled to open up on Route 9.

The old Greenbaum & Gilhooley's location is getting ready to offer an entirely new dining experience. The Irish restaurant was a Wappingers Falls staple for years, but business declined as competition from newer restaurants lured diners away, eventually shuttering the eatery's doors.

Now a new Farm to Table style restaurant will be taking its place.

Heritage Food and Drink is the name of the restaurant that is being advertised on a new website and through the business' Facebook and Instagram accounts. According to recent postings, the building should be finished in a few "short months." A digital rendering of the upgraded facade shows big windows and some brickwork reminiscent of another popular restaurant: Mill House Brewing Company.

The similarities aren't just a coincidence. Heritage is being opened by Amanda Baxter. The Baxters are also partners with Mill House in Poughkeepsie.

The new restaurant is described as "local farm to table cuisine, specializing in items slow cooked on a wood burning grill." Photos of the new grill have been posted on the restaurant's Facebook page with an announcement that their first piece of kitchen equipment has officially been ordered.

Not far away, however, is a similar restaurant. Farm to Table Bistro is located in the Lawrence Farms Plaza on Route 9 in Fishkill, just 1.4 miles down the road. It's still unknown how both restaurants will compare to each other or how similar their food will wind up being. For those wondering about what specific items may wind up on the menu, Heritage's slogan seems to be "Peace. Love. Pork."
