New Legislation Makes It Illegal To Smoke Anywhere That Provides Childcare
A new bill was signed in New York that makes it illegal to smoke anywhere that provides child care services, including your home.
On Monday, August 20, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill into effect to further expand the state's initiative against smoking. According to a press release from the governor's office, the bill is to protect children from exposure to secondhand smoke.
The bill that was signed now makes it illegal to smoke anywhere that provides childcare services. Places like daycares and even private homes. Anywhere that is required to be registered as a childcare service provider must comply with this law, according to the release. They must comply within 90 days, even when children are not present.
