Narcan Saves Yet Another Possible Overdose Victim
Police in Dutchess County saved another person from a heroin overdose, after administering Narcan.
On Wednesday evening, the Village of Wappingers Falls responded to a home in Village for a reported heroin overdose. Detective McHugh and Officer Wilson arrived on the scene and found a 23 year-old female unresponsive, and not breathing on the laundry room floor.
Officers administered 2 mg of Naloxone Hydrochloride (Narcan) by nasal, 1 mg in each nostril of the female. Officers used a nasal farangel to gain a good airway and started to use a BVM to assist her in breathing.
Shortly the female became more responsive and a radial pulse was present. Paramedics arrived and took over care of the female. She was transported to the hospital for further care.
