Have you ever heard of Laura Dern? I mean, who hasn’t?

She’s one of the biggest movie and television stars ever. For me, the fact that Laura Dern was in Jurassic Park is enough to make me star-struck. It’s one of my all-time favorite movies, and it’s the one that made me go out and get a surround sound system. Don’t make fun of me, it was the 90s.

Of course, there's a lot more to Laura Dern besides Jurassic Park

She’s won tons of awards for both movies and television, and she hasn’t stopped working in all these years. Yup, she’s a superstar. So, why am I going on and on about Laura Dern? Because she was only minutes from my house. Laura Dern had lunch at Savona’s Trattoria Poughkeepsie on College Avenue right by Vassar College. And she was even gracious enough to pose for a picture with Savona's manager Eron Cayea.

Laura Dern is not the only big star to have discovered Savona’s. Not too long ago, William H. Macy enjoyed a meal there. It’s not unusual to see stars in the Hudson Valley these days with all the movies and shows being filmed here, and lots of famous people have kids who go to school at Vassar. And Laura Dern and William H. Macy know where to go for a good meal.

Savona’s is one of my favorite restaurants, especially in the summer when you can dine outside. I must admit I’ve never run into anyone famous there, but that’s not why I go. If I did happen to see a star like Laura Dern, though, it would be pretty darn cool.
