Merrill E. Robinson, Jr., a Newburgh Resident, Dies at 72
Merrill E. Robinson, Jr. “Junior”, of Newburgh, entered into rest on April 20, 2017. He was 72. The son of the late Merrill E. Robinson Sr. and Ida Mae (Perry) Robinson, he was born March 10, 1945 in Newburgh. He married Carrie E. (Dunham) Robinson on November 16, 1973 in Newburgh.
Merrill was a 1963 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force as Sergeant, was a retired Gas Mechanic for Central Hudson Gas & Electric, and a member of Black Rock Fish & Game Club.
In addition to his wife Carrie, he is survived by his children, Juella Guadalupe of Middletown, Shawnta Robinson of Clayton, NC, Pepper Robinson of Elgin, SC and Jodis Robinson of Newburgh; grandchildren, Mina Guadalupe, Patrick Ivy Stevenson, Jr., Janna Guadalupe, David Alexander, William Alexander, Rescan Becton, Ebony Robinson and Makayla Robinson; and niece and nephews Renee Boyd, Warren “Nishe” Boyd, Jr. and Kevin Jackson. He was predeceased by his parents, Merrill and Ida Mae, previous proprietors of Robinson’s Lounge in Newburgh; and his siblings, Marilyn Robinson “Puddie”, and Renee Robinson “Bo Peep”.
Visitation and services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, April 29 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 76 1st Street, Newburgh, with Reverend Nelson McAllister officiating.
