Mae Marie Hoey, a long time Newburgh resident, entered into eternal rest on July 2, 2016 at Elant at Meadow Hill in Newburgh. She was 81 years old.

She worked at the Cameo Theater and Stanwyck Coil in Newburgh. She was a homemaker who loved arts & crafts, Painting, Quilling, Sewing, Crocheting and Knitting. She enjoyed playing the organ and music, even produced her own song on a 45. Her favorite entertainer was Elvis. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Fleet Reserve Board #229.

Mae is survived by her husband, Thomas F. Hoey, Sr., who she was married to for 62 years; her children, Thomas F. Hoey, Jr. and wife Sherry of Newburgh, Robert P. Hoey Sr. of Wurstboro, Donna O’Keefe and husband Mike of Hummelstown, and Theresa Beretta and husband Paul of Wappinger Falls; her sisters, Shirley Hoey of New Windsor, Joan and husband Mark McCarthy of Wallkill, and her brother Nat Mitchell and wife Theresa of Newburgh; her grandchildren, Thomas F. Hoey III, Jennifer M. Manley, Robert Paul Hoey Jr., Raphael Beretta, Valentino Beretta, Jonathan Pinkerton, and Amber Moschini; and her Great Grandchildren, Alijah Gamble, Shianne Manley, Dyimond Manley, Lavinia Manley and Samantha Moschini. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mae was predeceased by her parents, Nathaniel and Martha Mitchell, her brother Ray Mitchell, her sister Martha Mitchell and her half-brother, Winnifred Mitchell.

A special thank you to everyone at Elant at Meadow Hill for their loving and compassionate care of Mae.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 pm on Wednesday, July 6th at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh. A funeral service will be held during visitation. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mae’s name to St. Patrick’s/St. Mary’s Church, 55 Grand St, Newburgh, NY 12550.
