
Lower Hudson Valley City Named One of The Best Places to Retire
Believe it or not, people like living in the Hudson Valley and New York State.
According to Chamber of Commerce, multiple cities in New York state were named amongst. The list looked at U.S. cities with a population of over 10,000 or higher. They also looked at the percentage of the population above 65, percentage of retirees in the 65+ population, overall poverty rate, percentage of the population with a bachelor’s degree or higher, median monthly housing costs, physicians per 100K population, violent crime per 100K population, and police officers per 100K population.
Surprisingly, New York City was ranked the number 4 city to retire in the U.S. Within the Hudson Valley, only one city made the list, and was in the top 20 of all U.S. cities. Yonkers was ranked the 13th best U.S. city to retire in, according to Chamber of Commerce.
Other New York State cities that made the list by Chamber of Commerce are Albany at #30, Rochester at #33, Syracuse at #41, Buffalo, at #84, and Schenectady at #88.
