Louis E. Gagliano, a Lifelong Newburgh Resident, Dies at 85
Louis E. Gagliano, “Weegee”, a lifelong resident of Newburgh, entered into rest on Wednesday, November 1, 2017. He was 85.
Born in Newburgh on March 25, 1932, Louis was the son of the late John and Stella (Mucci) Gagliano. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War where he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. He worked as a laborer and was a member of Local 17. Louis also belonged to the William Street Social Club.
Weegee had a love for cooking, playing poker, and traveling. He loved fine dining, but got more pleasure from a cup of Dunkin Donuts Coffee and a plain stick. Though he had many health issues throughout the years he always fought hard and survived with a positive attitude.
Left to cherish his memory are his longtime companion, Nancy Gonzales; his children, Louis, Jr., James, Pamela, Eve, Michael, Diane, and Donna; 10 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private Memorial Service will be held for immediate family members.
