Lita Kristt-Stein, born in NYC May 30, 1931 and a long time resident of Monroe, NY passed away on March 5, 2017. She was predeceased by her much beloved father David, mother Helen (Rosenholtz) Kristt, and her cherished sister Helen Radin. She is survived by her adored children Judy Stein of Seattle, WA, and Jonathan Stein and his wife Eileen of New Windsor, NY; her dear granddaughters Leslie Stein of Monroe, NY, and Katie and her husband Brian Walton of Gilbert, AZ; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lita was a graduate of Hunter High School, Hunter College of the City of New York and SUNY New Paltz. She taught for many years in the Monroe/Woodbury school system at Pine Tree School and Central Valley Elementary, and in NYC in Manhattan District #3. She was a member of NYSUT, AFT and MARTA. She formed the Adult Afternoon Reading Group at the Monroe Free Library. She taught Braille for the Association for the Visually Impaired. Lita was an avid golfer, a worldwide traveler and enjoyed theater locally and in NYC. She was a longtime honored member of the Monroe Temple of Liberal Judaism.
Her cremated remains, at the families’ convenience, will be sprinkled at the Lake at Camp Mohawk in the Berkshires, MA where she spent many happy summers as a camper and counselor.
