A Kingston woman lost her life following a head-on collision in the Town of Rhinebeck.

On Saturday morning around 10:00 am, Dutchess County Sheriff's responded to a report a serious crash on Slate Quarry Road in the Town of Rhinebeck.

Upon arrival, deputies observed it to be a two-car crash with one person seriously injured. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2001 Ford Taurus driven by Kathi E. Norklun, 65, of Kingston.

Norklun was traveling on Slate Quarry Road when she crossed over the center line and struck a 2010 Nissan Morano head-on.

Norklun suffered serious injuries and was transported to Northern Dutchess Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Norklun was the only occupant of her vehicle. The other vehicle had three occupants, all of which were transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

At this time no charges have been filed, and it appears that Ms. Norklun was not wearing her safety belt.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of Ms. Norklun.
