John “Way” McCormick, 64, of Poughkeepsie, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 25, 2015 at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital. John was born on December 19, 1951 in Poughkeepsie, to the late John L. McCormick and Muriel Haines. Mrs. Haines survives in Poughkeepsie.

John graduated from Arlington High School in 1970.

John married Elizabeth Cattuzzo on July 16th, 1977 at Arlington Reformed Church. Together they spent 38 years in Poughkeepsie raising their family.

John worked at Vassar College for 22 years. His greatest joy was being a music producer and owning his own music engineering company, the Independent Production Studio. John belonged to many bands including; Natures Conspiracy, Harvest, After Six, Last Licks, BB Grand, The Alex Jornov Band, Anthology, Blue Suede Shoes and many more. John mainly played the bass guitar and sang.  He also did many radio jingles with his good friend Joe Lomoriello.

John is survived by his loving family and will be missed by all. Survivors include his wife; Beth, mother; Muriel, daughter; Clancie and her husband Clayton Tyger, son; Sean and his girlfriend Joanna Karlitz, cousins; Edmund Kardas and Jolene Wahlgren, sister in law; Nancy Perusse and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father; John and sister in law; Theresa Hultberg.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM at Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM from the funeral home. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.

In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made in John’s name to the American Heart Association, www.Heart.org.
