John Kloepping, a longtime resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest, Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at his home. He was 87.
Son of the late Emil and Hedy Kloepping, he was born March 11, 1930 in Rockville Center, NY. John proudly served his country in the United States Army Signal Corps as a Sargent. He married Kimiko Okada on November 25, 1952 at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. Mrs. Kloepping preceded him in death on August 1, 2006.
Prior to his retirement, John worked as a Storage Engineer with IBM. He was an active member of New Hackensack Reformed Church in Wappingers Falls. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying skiing, hunting and fishing. John enjoyed sushi, chocolate cake and German wine. He treasured time spent in Cape Cod with family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Dennis Kloepping of Upton, Massachusetts, Cindy Knight, Diana Kloepping-Davis and her husband, Dennis of Wappingers Falls, and Susan Weiss and her husband, Jerry of Avon, Colorado; his sister, Linda Yonescu and her husband, Bill of Palm City, Florida; his grandchildren, Bryan Rogers, Kyle Kloepping, and Nikkomi and Jaden Weiss; his great-granddaughter Gabrielle Rogers; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Judy Dorsa; daughter-in-law, Karolyn (Sekely) Kloepping; and his brothers, Frank and Herbert Kloepping.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at New Hackensack Reformed Church, 1580 Route 376, in Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.
