John J. Raffaele, Sr. of Wappingers Falls entered into rest on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Westchester Medical Center. He was 64.
Son of Rose D'Alessandro Raffaele and the late Amico Raffaele, he was born on December 5, 1952 in Yonkers. John married the love of his life, Fannie Bottone, on September 9, 1978 at St. Ann's Church in Yonkers. Mrs. Raffaele survives at home in Wappingers Falls.
John worked as a plumber for many years for Poughkeepsie City School District, Tempaire, Frank and Lindy Plumbing and M&T Bank in Fishkill, until his retirement. He was a life member, volunteer, former Chief and former Commissioner of New Hamburg Fire Company, Station 2, for over 20 years. In his free time, he loved spending time with his grandchildren; they meant the world to him.
In addition to his wife, Fannie, and his mother, Rose, survivors include his son, John Raffaele, Jr. (Elise) of Poughkeepsie; his daughter, Nicole Clark of Poughkeepsie; his brothers, Philip Raffaele (Mary) of Peekskill, and Robert Raffaele of Eastchester; and his beloved grandchildren, Olivia, Jake and Justin.
Family will receive their friends on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home following visitation at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in John's name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
