Another Hudson Valley Big Lots Store Reportedly Closing

The Big Lots store located in Poughkeepsie, New York is scheduled to shut its doors soon and now it appears another Hudson Valley location will soon follow.

Back in August, we learned that the discount retailer Big Lots was preparing to close over 300 stores across the country including 10 in New York State. Stores in Buffalo, Queensbury, Ithaca, Plattsburgh, and on Long Island were all set to close soon (full list below).

At the time the Big Lots store located at 43 Burnett Blvd, Poughkeepsie, NY was listed as the only Hudson Valley store that was scheduled to close, but now it appears that another store will soon close.

Big Lots! Files For Bankruptcy

Shortly after Big Lots filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and announced a new partnership with Nexus Capital hoping to give the company better financial stability and improve its long-term profitability according to a company press release. At the time the newly structured company did hint that they might have to close even more locations to ensure its business operates as efficiently as possible.

Big Lots! in Kingston, New York Closing?

The Big Lots located at 1375 Ulster Ave, Kingston, NY has reportedly been added to the list of stores that will soon close. To confirm if the rumor was true or not we reached out to the store by phone and spoke to an employee who told us that the store was indeed closing. They told us that they were informed of the closing today (Sept 27th). The employee also told us they weren't sure when the store would close but did say November was mentioned.

We also attempted to contact Big Lots corporate by filling out a contact/question form (above) through its website contact page but haven't received a response yet. When we do, we update this article with any information they provide.

New Hartford, NY at 4645 Commercial Drive

The Big Lots stores located in Wappingers Falls, NY, Middletown, NY, and Saugerties, NY will remain open.
