Sometimes it may be hard to keep up with all the comings and goings of Hudson Valley businesses, especially since the pandemic and the impact it had on our local business climate.

You never know what you may discover when driving on one of our local roadways, which is exactly what happened to me recently while stopped at a light on Rt. 9 heading to the radio station.

Table Talk Diner Turned E Crab

For just about a decade, this popular Rt. 9 Poughkeepie plaza was anchored by the Table Talk Diner. A well-loved spot to meet up with friends, or hang out into the late night hours, the Hudson Valley was pretty shocked when they announced their closure back in the summer of 2020. The following spring, we were introduced to E Crab Cajun Seafood and Bar, who opened up at the former Table Talk location.

Now, though, E Crab is out, and a new and quite different type of business is preparing to launch in its place.

This particular area, named the Post Road Plaza, has gone through a number of major transitions in the past, with Pier 1 Imports closing a few years back and now being home to O'Reilly Auto Parts (it's ok, we sang the song too), and Nothing Bundt Cakes opening within the past few years too.

HOTWORX Prepared For Poughkeepsie Launch

Local motorists and/or visitors to the plaza may have noticed some recent activity and signage in the empty E Crab/Table Talk location, and we've got more details on what will soon be HOTWORX Poughkeepsie.

Deemed 'a gym like no other,' HOTWORX is an 'infrared fitness studio' that will feature 10 saunas and a variety of virtually instructed infrared sauna workouts that allow for 'significant health benefits such as increased calorie burn, muscle recovery, and stress reduction.' Some of the workouts include Hot Yoga, Hot Pilates and Hot Cycling.

They are currently offering the opportunity to get on their VIP Waitlist, or you can request exclusive info on their website as well so you can be among the first to be in the know about the only infrared fitness studio within a 50-mile radius.

Hudson Valley Businesses That Have Closed in 2024

Owning a business is hard these days. While some business owners are simply stepping into their next big phase of retirement, some longstanding, beloved businesses have faced less-welcomed closures. Here's a list of some of the Hudson Valley eateries we already miss this year.
