Soon, shoppers looking to purchase an item that the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) calls "abhorrent and dangerous" at Adams Fairacre Farms stores will need to search somewhere else.

PETA's tireless mission as animals' most vocal advocate has recently turned their focus to stores in New York state. While Adams stores have long been a Hudson Valley favorite for groceries, greenhouse essentials, and some truly unique treasures rarely found anywhere else, they are now taking one item off of their shelves.

Adams Fairacre Farms Will Stop Selling Glue Traps in the Hudson Valley, NY

"Mouse-shaped vegan chocolates are on the way from PETA to Adams Fairacre Farms in thanks for banning the sale of abhorrent and dangerous glue traps at all its stores", began a recent press release from the animal advocacy group. Adams is joining a long list of stores in New York who have agreed to do the same.

These New York Stores No Longer Sell Glue Traps

Nationally, chains like CVS, Dollar General, Target, and others have all agreed to halt the sale of traps, a move that PETA says is "sparing countless mice, birds, and other small animals a terrifying death". Newly-minted Hudson Valley resident Ocean State Job Lot is the next store PETA says they'd like to follow suit.

New York Homeowners' Best Defenses Against Mice

While it's no secret that mice can wreak havoc in Hudson Valley homes, PETA's vice president points out that glue traps do nothing to address the cause of rodent invasions. Since everything from car engines to internet connections seem to be targets for local pests, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends taking actions like sealing up potential entry points and securing food sources to address any issues instead of using any kind of trap.
