Irene Alice Silvestri, of Fishkill, died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. She was 79.
Daughter of the late James and Irene Pignataro, she was born in Yonkers on September 21, 1936. On July 24, 1955, she married Daniel J. Silvestri, Sr. at St. John’s Church (Yonkers). In 1960, she and her husband moved to Dutchess County to raise their family.
Irene was a homemaker and loved to cook, but more than anything, she cherished spending time with her family. She’ll be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother – and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel J. Silvestri, Sr. at home in Fishkill; her son, Daniel J. Silvestri, Jr. & his wife Kathleen of Fishkill; her daughter, Linda J. Taft & her husband Charles of Wappingers Falls; her son, Michael J. Silvestri & his wife Lori of Fishkill; her daughter, Irene Moody & her husband Brian of Poughkeepsie; her grandchildren, Kristi Ott & her husband Andrew, Charles J. Taft, Jr. & his wife Aimee, Amanda Miller & her husband Peter, Bradley Moody, Casey Silvestri, Troy Moody, Trent Silvestri and Luke Moody; her great-grandchildren, Hannah & Tyler Ott and Caroline Taft; her brother, James Pignataro & his wife Maureen of Fountain Hills, AZ; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Joan Mullins.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 26 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
