Hudson Valley Man Arrested Outside A Local Church Wearing Just A Towel
A Saugerties man with a history of getting naked in a local church, has been arrested after police found him wearing just a towel on a porch near Saint Mary's Monday night.
This isn't the first rodeo for Nathaniel Shultz of Saugerties as he was arrested back in May after he was seen in the sacristy of St. Mary's by a congregation member. He allegedly spent more than four hours there overnight naked and was seen urinating in a trash can on video.
Fast forward to this week, Shultz had a court order preventing him from going within 500 feet of said church. He was found on the porch of the rectory in a towel with screens on the windows cut after local police were called to check on a male subject in the area.
He's charged with illegally entering the premises and will face charges relating to breaking his court order in addition to criminal mischief and trespassing. Shultz was taken into custody without incident and is due back in court on the 21st.
So what have we learned? If you're going to get naked, stay away from churches. This advice need not be said for many of us, but if we can save just one person from stripping down and heading to church, then we've done our job.
