
Francis “Frank” Vasalka,Sr , a Longtime Resident of New Paltz and Highland, Dies at 88
Francis “Frank” Vasalka,Sr 88, a longtime resident of New Paltz and Highland, passed away on October 29, 2016 at the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie surrounded by loving members of his family.
Francis was born in Maspeth, NY on December 15, 1927 to Alexander and Pauline Vasalka.
He was a United States Army Veteran who proudly served our Country during World War II and Korea retiring at the rank of staff sergeant.
He was a devoted husband to his wife Regina, who passed away in 2010, and loving father to his children working two jobs throughout the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s to provide for them. Yet, always somehow he found the time for little league, glee club, track meets and the like to support his children’s pursuits while growing up.
Francis is survived by his daughter Paula and sons Steven and Frank; granddaughter Kristen and her husband Dan with great-grandchildren Madison, Emma, Gregory and Benjamin; grandson James and his wife Michelle; sister-in-law Valeria; niece Joan and nephews John and Jason; great-niece Kelly with her daughter great-great niece Charlotte; great-nephew Matt and his wife Claudia with great-great nieces Lily and Olivia.
Arrangements are under the direction of Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, 38 Main St in Highland NY. Calling hours are 6-9 PM on Thursday November 3rd and 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM on Friday November 4th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Church in New Paltz on Saturday November 5th at 10 AM.
