State Police are investigating a two vehicle fatal accident that occurred in the early hours Friday in the Town of Woodbury. 

At approximately 1:30 a.m. Friday, a Toyota Celica, with two male occupants was traveling north on State Route 32 in the area of Ridge Road.

The Toyota crossed into the southbound lane and was struck head-on by a Kenworth fuel tanker carrying approximately 8500 gallons of gasoline.

The passenger of the Toyota was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Toyota was transported to Orange Regional Medical Center with lower body and internal injuries.

The driver of the fuel tanker suffered only minor injuries.

As a result of the accident, approximately 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled. Orange County HAZ MAT responded to the scene for spill clean-up.  None of the gasoline in the tanker was spilled.

This section of State Route 32 was closed for spill clean-up and to allow for the transfer of the 8500 gallons of gasoline into a new fuel tanker prior to being removed from the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
