An excessive heat warning will continue for the Hudson Valley through the day on Monday.  The National Weather Service will continue the warning until Monday night at 10pm.  Heat index values will be near 110, as temperatures stay in the upper 90’s.

The oppressive heat will continue through this week.  There will be a weak cold front on Tuesday that will touch off a few showers and thunderstorms but won’t be enough to break up this heat.  A stronger cold front later in the week, should bring temperatures down in the 80’s.

Here’s the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

Monday:  Sunny and continued hot.  High near 97, heat index values as high as 103.

Monday night:  Mostly clear, low around 71.

Tuesday:  Mostly sunny and hot, high near 94.  Heat index values near 105.  A chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Wednesday:  Partly sunny and hot, high near 91.  Isolated showers and thunderstorms.
