Dorothea Spano, a Longtime Area Resident, Dies at 33

LAGRANGE – Dorothea Spano, 33, died on November 15, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She has lived in the area since she was 5 years old.

Dorothea was born in Yonkers on October 4, 1984. She is survived by her beautiful daughter, Olivia Grace; her parents, Leonard and Diane (Ciavarello) Spano of LaGrange; her sister, Gina Spano of LaGrange; her Brother, Anthony Spano of LaGrange; her grandmothers, Dorothy Ciavarello and Cynthia Spano; 23 aunts and uncles; and 36 cousins.

Dorothea enjoyed being outdoors, and especially liked hiking, fishing, snowboarding, gardening, camping and campfires. She also liked to cook, and was a fan of astrology, the stars, and the galaxy. Most of all, she loved being a mommy, and Oliva Grace was her biggest joy in life.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-5pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10am at St. Kateri Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
