Kingston has always been a cool place to hang out; there’s great restaurants, beautiful views of the river, but it might be getting even better. A proposed 52-million-dollar development project could be coming and it’s being referred to as the ‘Kingstonian,’ according to Hudson Valley News Network. This multi-use development would be located right in the middle of the historic stockade district.

The ‘Kingstonian’ would include, a parking garage, 129 residential units, a 32-room boutique and hotel, and 8,000 square feet of retail space, HVNN reports.  Um did I see that correctly -- 8,000 square feet of potential shopping?!!

However, with any good idea, concerns do follow. The apartments could see pretty high rents, a one bedroom could be up to $1600 a month (Ugh) and there is a potential taxpayers could be impacted with all these upgrades to the city, according to HVNN.

A public hearing for this will be on  Wednesday, April 10 at 6PM at the Kingston Town Hall. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens!

If this goes through it looks there could be a lot going in Kingston in the future. Check out a model of what the 'Kingstonian' would look like at the HVNN article..
