A Putnam County woman is facing felony charges after she allegedly stole thousands of dollars from a family member's retirement fund.

On March 9th, 2017, Troopers were contacted by a Queens' man who reported that someone had withdrawn over $2,000 from his 401K retirement account. The deduction, including taxes, totaled the removal of over $3,000 from his retirement fund.

An investigation revealed that a family member had applied for a hardship loan from the victim's account and forged his name on the loan documentation.

Bonnie J. Garvey, 55, of Carmel, NY was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny and Forgery, both felonies.

On March 16th, 2017, Garvey was arraigned and remanded to Putnam County in lieu of $5,000 cash bail, or $10,000 bond.
