Can You See What’s Hiding in Between These Rocks?

This is probably my least favorite Hudson Valley trend currently, but I also can't look away.

I recently joined the "Hudson Valley in Pictures" group on Facebook because I've seen some great shots of our beautiful hometowns.

Now that it's gotten warmer, all types of wildlife are coming out of hibernation. Like most people, I'm not a big snake fan. They are probably one of my top 5 biggest fears.

Snakes are making their way out of wherever they've been hiding and making themselves known. Cue the goosebumps.

Facebook user and Hudson Valley resident Stephen Wallin posted the picture below to the Hudson Valley in Pictures Facebook page. Can you see what's hidden in-between the rocks?

That, according to Stephen, is a Timber Rattlesnake, which according to a user in the Facebook comments has a bite "worse than a bite from a western diamond back."

Stephen told us that he was sitting on the rock on a break from his hike at Black Rock Forest in Cornwall on May 2, when he heard something coming from underneath it.

On that note, I'm moving to the closest climate without a snake population.

New York is filled with different types of venomous and non-venomous snakes. The DEC has stated that New York is home to three types of venomous snakes, the massasauga, the copperhead and timber rattlesnake.
