Breaking: Explosion Reported at Port Authority
As being reported on Twitter/Scanner and through MetroSource, there has been an explosion of unknown origin at the Port Authority. The subways are being evacuated and there's a heavy police presence at the scene. The A, C and E lines are impacted at 42nd Street and 8th Avenue. Trains are bypassing the Times Square-42nd Street station.
Vehicle traffic is also being rerouted in the area. According to the New York Post, several people have been injured; one person is in custody.
NBC News reports the explosion may have been a pipe bomb blast below ground.
Market Watch says the suspect was a suicide bomber who was inspired by ISIS. A 27-year-old from Bangladesh living in Brooklyn is accused of attaching wires to his body while armed with a metal pipe bomb and battery pack, sources told Market Watch.
