Another Small Earthquake Felt in Parts of New York State
Again? The US Geological Survey is reporting that a 3.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in New York state Wednesday morning. CBS is saying the tremor was centered near South Glens Falls, and was felt in several nearby towns.
It's been a rather geologically active time for a state that doesn't see earthquakes that often. Two small quakes struck January 3 and January 7 in the Adirondack region. This was followed January 13, when a 3.1 quake centered north of the Canadian border was felt in parts of upstate. Also, in December 2019, a 2.1 quake was reported near Sodus Point, off the coast of Lake Ontario.
And while this doesn't put us anywhere near the level of places like California or Japan, it may certainly jolt a few unsuspecting residents here in New York who aren't used to stuff like this.
