Adelaide B. Stitt of Maybrook, a retired bookkeeper for Dr. Martin Grant entered into rest Saturday, November 12, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was 81.

The daughter of the late Russell and Hattie May (Jones) Whitmore, Adelaide was born January 31, 1935 in Southfields, NY.

She was the former owner of the Montgomery Diner, member and lay speaker of the Bullville Methodist Church and member of the Cronomer Valley Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. Adelaide was full of life, loved people and animals.

Survivors include her children: Dorothy Brown of Newburgh, Russell V. Stitt of Bloomingburg, James H. Stitt of Walden and Sharon Hood of Middletown, grandchildren; Jennifer, Sharon and David and his wife, Stephanie, as well as several great grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will take place Wednesday, November 16th from 3 to 7 p.m. at White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Rd. (Route 32) Newburgh.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, November 17th at the funeral home. Pastor Jeffrey Hooker will officiate.

Cremation will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Burial will take place at the Monroe Cemetery at a time convenient to the family in the future.
