100 Animals Rescued From New York Home (VIDEO)

Authorities could smell urine from 30 feet away from the house.

According to WTEN, Police in the Albany, New York area got a tip from someone that wanted to report that a large number of animals were not being cared for at a house on Campbell Avenue in the city of Troy.

Once police arrived at the house they were met with an awful urine smell that was coming from the home and once they went inside, they discovered a large number of animals including 38 dogs, 38 cats, 6 ferrets, and 18 birds.

Police told WTEN that many of the animals were in cages, some were roaming free throughout the home, which has been deemed unlivable and is currently locked down.

The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society handled the rescue and needed five vans to move the animals from the house to their shelter, where the animals will receive the care they need.

Mohawk Hudson Humane Society President Todd Cramer said that, “It’s really going to put a drain on our staffing, on our food, on our finances. Any support people can lend is always appreciated, it does not happen typically on a scale this size, these are far and few between. But I’m glad we’re here.”
