A Hudson valley man jailed in Ulster County was found with drugs in his jail cell, officials say.

On Tuesday, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office received a report that an inmate of the Ulster County Jail was in possession of cocaine. Police say an investigation determined that 27-year-old Carlos M. Diggs, of Kingston was in possession of cocaine within his cell.

While making rounds, a Corrections Officer observed a glove that contained white powder inside the cell Diggs was housed in. The powder allegedly tested positive for cocaine. A Corrections K-9 was also used to help located the cocaine.

Diggs was charged with 1st-degree promoting prison contraband and 5th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies.

Diggs remains incarcerated at the Ulster County Jail on a previous criminal contempt charge, He will be arraigned in the City of Kingston Court at a later date.
