A man jailed in Ulster County is accused of injuring another inmate.

On Tuesday around 7:45 p.m., detectives from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office were told about an assault which occurred inside the Ulster County Jail.

Further investigation revealed that inmate Jose Colon, 24, struck another inmate multiple times with a closed fist causing bruises, lacerations and abrasions, police say.

Colon was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony.

Colon was arrested and is scheduled to appear in Kingston City Court to be arraigned on the new charges.
