What’s Happening This Weekend in the Hudson Valley?

Friday, July 6 through Sunday, July 8: Empire State Balloon Festival at Barton Orchards in Poughquag. See the balloon launches Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday morning & evenings with Balloon Glows scheduled for Friday and Saturday night. Plus, enjoy fireworks on Friday and Saturday night. There will be food trucks and vendors, with Beer Sampling on Saturday, and Craft Soda Sampling on Sunday. See the Racing Pigs, an appearance from the Bubble Bus, and enjoy live music from over 15 Live Bands. Enjoy the Petting Zoo, Gem Mining & Duck Races, the Dog Park, the Inflatable Play Area, and so much more. This year’s official charity is Honor Flight. Sunday, July 8; 1-4: Denning and Claryville History Afternoon. See historical collections and hear local historians, Geoffrey Miller and Tom McGee. Saturday, July 7; 10-11:30: Living Things Near and Far at the Outdoor Discovery Center at Hudson Highlands Museum. Learn about native and non-native plants and animals as you hike along the trails through fields and forest. You'll also learn about those species that are invasive.
