5 Ways to Destress in the Hudson Valley for Stress Awareness Month
If you haven't done so already, take a deep breath. This is something that I remind myself to do a few times throughout the day and it makes a huge difference.
It's so easy to get overstimulated, overwhelmed and caught up in being busy that we forget to take time to relax. At times, it's when we do too much and it finally hits us where we are forced to settle down for once.
More than ever, mental health awareness is important.
We have been taught how to take care of our physical bodies but mentally, there wasn't that much knowledge.
Thankfully, we can learn from our friends, family members and professionals on how our mental health is the ultimate wealth in life.
April is Stress Awareness Month and has been recognized since 1992.
To live a healthy and positive lifestyle, we must learn or teach ourselves how to cope with stress. Handling situations in a healthy manner seems as if it's something that we have to experience or go through to figure it out.
However, there are things that we can do on a daily basis to make our lives easier and choose a better reaction when stress comes into our lives.
Here are 5 ways to destress in the Hudson Valley.
Start by adding plants to your space
Do you have any greenery in your home? Recently, my sister has put plants in her house and it has made a huge difference for her. Indoor plants can make any room pop,
From my personal experience, adding plants to my space has improved my mood and mental health.
Planting outdoors is also something that I enjoy doing. There's something so healing about spending time in the sun, creating a garden, planting flowers, and watching them bloom day after day.

Attend a wellness class
Anything that will make me feel at peace and grounded, I will sign up for. From yoga, to meditation classes and qigong sessions, it's hard to choose which one to attend first.
My first time trying qigong, I was amazed at how much energy I had after the session.
Also, this is how you pronounce it, (chee-gong). I know for a couple of months, I couldn't figure it out.
Known as a mind, body, and spirit practice or exercise, qigong is a few things all in one. It's a balance between movement, breathing, and meditation. This ancient Chinese system of exercise is meant to improve your well-being by using what you already have inside you.

Try a red light therapy session
I firmly believe that red light therapy has changed my life. Thankfully, I was able to try this therapy session for free for the first time and knew that I needed to incorporate it into my life for my mental health.
Red light therapy helped me with seasonal depression, increased my energy and made my skin glow. There are other benefits such as activating the lymphatic system to drain, helps with skin damage and reduces inflammation.

Purchase crystals, specifically Shungite
Do you believe in the power of crystals? They say you don't believe in something until you experience it for yourself. I would say that when I was told that shungite would help with my headaches related to overstimulation and too much screen time, I tried it.
Shungite truly has assisted with EMF production. EMF stands for electromagnetic field emissions, what is being projected off our laptops and phones.
This crystal has been around for billions of years.

Try CBD products such as gummies, serum or a tincture
More than ever, self care serums and roll on have been what everyone is talking about. On a recent trip to Colorado, I made sure I stopped at one of my favorite places. I brought back CBD lip balms, lotions, serums and roll on for myself and family.
Some folks claim that CBD helps with their stress levels, relaxes them, improves their sleep, and assists with medical conditions, and more.
CBD can come in several forms. Some purchase it in a tincture and use it under their tongue while others prefer gummies.
