Viral video goofs on luxury living in Upstate, NY - Is he right?

Luxury, a noun, by definition is "the state of great comfort and extravagant living", as in "he lived a life of luxury"

But despite its definition, many of us have different classifications of what "luxury" is.

To some, it may be 600-thread count sheets, made from the finest Egyptian cotton.  For others, it might be having a working washer and dryer, or simply a nice view of Troy, New York.

But one man's viral videos make it hard to classify Upstate New York living as "luxurious" following a series of TikToks he created while living at The Lofts at Harmony Mills in Cohoes.

While I personally have never experienced life inside The Lofts, a man who goes by the name of "Donny Skipper" to protect his privacy, told the New York Post that he's been living there for years and it hadn't always been this way.

Skipper, who told the Post that he’s paying $1,879 a month for a one-bedroom apartment, alleges that staff turnover within the last year led to the lack of maintenance.

“Anyone who follows my channel knows that I have a family — a wife and a toddler — and this corporation is forcing us out of our home,” he told The Post. “All I did was speak up about unsafe conditions. Tik Tok creator "Don Skippy", The NY Post

“My family and I have lived in my ‘luxury’ apartment for three years, and we’ve always paid rent on time and treated the property, staff, and neighbors with respect,” said the TikToker, who declined to share his real name with The Post.

Skipper's viral explosion took place about a month ago when he compiled a series of questionable things he's experienced inside the "luxurious" Harmony Mills.  See the video below!

The 60-second video has been watched over 2 million times.

In it, the Tik Tok creator takes you on a tour of his domain, which starts by showing some exposed trash on the grounds, followed by a key issue in his front doot, out-of-service elevators, and even an actual BAT hanging out inside his "luxury" apartments.

It's all tongue-in-cheek of course, but the evidence is there, and according to the New York Post his landlord allegedly informed him that his lease "would not be renewed in May, leaving him less than three months to relocate his family."

“Anyone who follows my channel knows that I have a family — a wife and a toddler — and this corporation is forcing us out of our home,” he told The Post. “All I did was speak up about unsafe conditions.”
