Train Strikes Dump Truck in Ulster County
A dump truck driver failed to stop at a railroad crossing and his dump truck paid the price.
Friday morning at approximately 6:34 am, Suagerties Police responded to a report of a dump truck / train crash at 892 Kings Highway.
An investigation by police determined that Jhon F. Orozco-Giraldo (correct spelling) was operating a 2015 Kenmore Tri-Axel Dump Truck when he failed to stop a railroad crossing and struck an oncoming CSX locomotive.
Although the dump truck sustained extensive damage, Orozco-Giraldo was not injured in the crash. He was issued a traffic summons for failure to stop at the crossing, which is posted in addition to having a Stop sign on both sides of the tracks.
The Mount Marion FD, Centerville Cedar Grove FD, DIAZ Ambulance, DEC Police and the CSX Railroad Police assisted at the scene.
