Did you learn cursive or script in school? There is one legislature who wants to have all students to learn it by the end of third grade. Do you call it script or cursive? What ever you call it, it was removed as a requirement from the Common Core curriculum in 2010.

The legislature brought up the fact that most kids cannot sign their name in cursive any more. A cursive or script signature is one that is needed on most documents. Since it was removed from the Common Core curriculum, two states have made it a mandatory requirement, Illinois and Ohio. Texas will be adding it back into the curriculum in 2020.

Do students need to learn to read or write in script? Does it matter if they can 'sign their name?' How do you feel about it?
