Robert A. Rainville, 87 of Poughkeepsie, left this world on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 to join his family members who predeceased him at the Lord’s banquet table. Born in Springfield,MA. on January 30,1929, he was the son of Alphonse Rainville and Columbienne Gibeau. A lifelong aviation enthusiast, he was discharged from the National Guard of Massachusetts to enlist in the United States Air Force where he last served in Germany with the 2nd Radio Squadron Mobile. Following his honorable discharge he worked at IBM for 25 years retiring from an accounting position. Throughout his life he pursued several venues of interest. While working at IBM he got his private pilot’s license as well as his commercial pilot’s rating and volunteered with the Civil Air Patrol teaching ground school. On June 17, 1972, he married the love of his life Theodora “Teddy” Britton who survives at home. Robert is also survived by his cousin, Tom Gibeau of Ludlow,MA.; his sister-in-law, Edith Perkins and Bruce Pritchard of North Port,FL.; brother-in-law, Clarence Britton of the Town of LaGrange; a niece, Jean Wager and her husband Donald of the Town of LaGrange; nephews, John Hodges and his wife Jennifer of the Town of LaGrange and Ronald and Donald of Florida; and several cousins in the Northeast. He also leaves behind a loving church family and lifelong friends, Nick Pozza and Keeler Pulling. Visitation will be Friday, May 27 from 4-7 pm at Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 28 at 10 am from the funeral home. Interment will follow in Freedom Plains Cemetery.
