Renegades Super Fan and ‘Hanson Sister’ Passes Away

The Hudson Valley Renegades' biggest fan has died.

Games at Dutchess Stadium just won't be the same without Diane Rosati. A Hudson Valley resident since 1964, Rosati and her sister Vivian attended practically every Hudson Valley Renegades game from their seats behind home plate.

According to MILB.com, Diane and her Vivian became known as the "Hanson Sisters," a nickname bestowed to them by Renegades announcer, Rick Zolzer, based off of a reference to the movie Slapshot.

The sisters began attending Renegades games in 1995 and quickly became hooked. After purchasing season tickets, the duo appeared at every home game. Diane and Vivian purchased life-sized raccoon puppets and would wave their tails in the air to work up the crowd. The siblings began adding to their "routine," entertaining the crowds with silly dances and chants.

Whether it was doing the chicken dance or holding up eye charts after the umpire made a questionable call, Diane and her sister became local celebrities that were beloved by fans and the team itself

In 2015 Vivian was diagnosed with cancer and shared updates of her battle on the sisters' Facebook fan page. The duo continued to attend games until health issues for both Vivian and Diane made it too difficult for the Hansen Sisters to make it out to the stadium.

Vivian lost her battle with cancer earlier this year and on Sunday, September 22 Diane passed away at her home. Calling hours will be held this Wednesday from 10-11am at McHoul Funeral Home in Hopewell Junction.
