Police: Wanted Couple Found With Around $8,000 Worth of Heroin
A wanted couple is facing a number of charges after they were allegedly found in the Hudson Valley with about $8,000 worth of heroin and more.
Monticello police arrested 34-year-old Christopher Loadholt of South Fallsburg and 25-year-old Katie McKnight of Bayonne, N.J. for two counts of 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and 5th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies, 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, and criminally using drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.
The wanted couple was arrested Thursday around 2:30 a.m. after Monticello police received a tip that they were spotted at the Best Western Motel on Raceway Road in the Village of Monticello.
Loadholt was wanted by the New York State Police on bench warrants for criminal impersonation in and obstructing governmental administration. He was also wanted by the Sullivan County Sheriff Office on a bench warrant for criminal sale of a controlled substance. McKnight was wanted by the Sullivan County Sheriff Office on 2 violations of probation warrants and also a bench warrant for criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Police say, when they arrested Loadholt and McKnight, they observed illegal drug activity in their hotel room. Officers obtained a search warrant which allegedly yielded 52.9 grams of heroin, 1.8 grams of crack cocaine, suboxone, numerous hypodermic instruments, scales, packaging materials and a small quantity of marijuana. Also recovered was approximately $1,200 in cash.
The estimated street value of the recovered heroin, once packaged for sale, is around $8,000, officials say.
Both were arraigned in Village of Monticello Court and remanded to the Sullivan County jail without bail.
