Two people suffered gunshot wounds on Saturday in Poughkeepsie, where outside agencies were needed to assist with fights and large unruly crowds.

On June, 16, 2018 at approximately 3:15 a.m. 911 received a report of a fight in the area of 33 Academy Street with no weapons involved, three minutes later there were reports of shots fired.

A 29-year old Poughkeepsie resident was found with a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to a local hospital, and is expected to live. He was unable to talk with detectives regarding what happened to him.

A short time later, a second victim arrived at a local hospital with a through and through gunshot wound to his arm and graze to his side. He too is expected to live. This victim
stated he was watching a fight when he was struck, he did not know who shot him.

Both victims were shot in the area of the club Mystic, at 189 Church Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.

There were many people in the area when the shootings occurred. Anyone with information on these shootings is asked to call the City of Poughkeepsie Police at 451-7577.
