Police Investigate Fatal Rollover Crash in Sullivan County

Police are asking for anyone with information regarding an unidentified vehicle that caused a crash on Saturday night in Sullivan County, to contact police immediately.

At approximately 11:40 p.m. Saturday, a single motor vehicle crash occurred on State Route 17 east of exit 112 in the town of Mamakating.

An initial investigation revealed that a 2008 Honda Civic, operated by Sayra Lemus, age 22, of Fallsburg was traveling east on State Route 17. Witnesses stated that an unidentified vehicle entered the lane of travel of the Honda Civic.

Lemus took evasive action to avoid the unknown vehicle and lost control exiting the south shoulder of the roadway and rolling over.

Sayra Lemus was transported to Orange Medical Center with minor injuries. There were four passengers in the vehicle, three passengers in the back seat were ejected. Omar Espinoza, age 23, of Fallsburg was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The other passengers were transported to Mid-Hudson Medical Center and Orange Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
