One person died on Monday after a head on crash with a school bus in Dutchess County.

On Monday, at approximately 8:00 a.m. Hyde Park Police were dispatched by 911 to respond to the area of South Quaker Lane and Dana Place for a school bus vs car head on crash with possible ejection.

The investigation revealed that a 2002 Honda Civic was traveling North on South Quaker Lane and a 2015 Ford Red Hook school bus was traveling South when they collided.

The operator of the Honda was partially ejected and pronounced deceased in the scene by the Dutchess County medical examiner. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

The school bus was occupied by three students, a bus monitor, and the driver. The occupants of the bus did not suffer any serious injuries, and were transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital for evaluation.

The accident is being investigated by the Town of Hyde Park Police Department Detective division with the assistance of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s office.

No further information is being released at this time.
