New York Woman, Teen Stabbed on New Year’s Day in Poughkeepsie
Police are asking for help as they search for the person or people responsible for stabbing a woman and teen on New Year's Day.
On New Year's Eve around 4:45 p.m., officers from the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department were dispatched to Virginia Avenue for a report of a disturbance.
While officers were investigating at the scene, the Town of Poughkeepsie Police notified dispatch that a female stabbing victim had been located at the Arlington Fire Department.
The woman was suffering two stabs wounds to her side and reported that they had occurred during the Virginia Avenue incident, police say.
She was transported to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital for treatment.
Detectives responded to the hospital to interview the victim and, while they were there, a second stabbing victim was transported to the hospital via Mobile Life, officials say.
The second victim, a 15-year-old male, was treated for a stab wound to the buttocks. Both victims are expected to recover.
As of this writing, police have no idea who is responsible for stabbing the woman or teen.
"The investigation is ongoing. If you have any information on this incident, call the confidential TIP LINE at (845)451-7577," the City of Poughkeepsie PBA wrote on Facebook.
