The Mets were October ready after clinching a playoff spot against the Atlanta Braves, they went on to dominate the Milwaukee Brewers in the Wildcard games. They then brought the heat to defeat an aggressive Phillies team taking them to the NLCS.

NY Senator Proposes Friendly Wager with West Coast Senator

With a hot streak like that, you can't get mad at Mets fans for heading into the NLCS a little confident. The Mets are taking on the piping hot LA Dodgers, which may be a challenge but one New York Senator is putting all his confidence behind the team from Queens.

Senator James Skoufis has put forth a friendly bet with a local senator from the LA area. On Instagram Skoufis writes:

LGM! As our @Mets head to LA, I’ve opened a friendly wager with one of the Dodgers’ State Senators, María Elena Durazo.
Loser sends a local tribute to the winner.

Senator Skoufis adds that the last time he participate in a similar wager was "the 2015 NLDS…also Mets vs Dodgers. Mets won then, here’s to history repeating itself!"

If you're a diehard sports fan, you probably have a process when it comes to watching a game. Maybe wearing a lucky jersey or pair of socks?

For me, if I'm sitting in a certain spot at my team takes the lead, I'm sitting in that exact spot the rest of the game. At one point during the Knicks playoff run last season, I had to sit on the edge of my couch in the most uncomfortable position (it worked, because Donte DiVincenzo hit that insane game winning 3 against the 76ers).

I happen to believe that betting on your own team is a jinx. At this moment, the Mets trail the Dodgers 0-1 in the series.
